MPSF WOMEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK


Air Force senior Mira Vestel (San Francisco, CA) led the Falcon women with a 16-7 record in saber in the season opener at Ohio State’s Elite Invitational (Nov. 9). Vestel went undefeated against Wayne State, Cleveland State, Denison, and No. 5 Northwestern. She accumulated eight wins vs. the top-10, including a 2-1 record against the host No. 6 Ohio State. She added wins against No. 4 Princeton, No. 7 Penn, and No. 10 Penn State. This is the second career MPSF weekly award for Vestel.

MPSF MEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK


Air Force junior Jackson Houtz (Lakewood, CO) posted 11 wins in saber in the season opener at Ohio State’s Elite Invitational (Nov. 9). Houtz was 3-0 in a 15-12 Falcon win over the host No. 5 Ohio State and 2-1 in a 14-13 win over No. 4 Princeton. He finished with winning records against three ranked opponents, which also included a 2-1 mark vs. No. 7 Penn State. He added a win over No. 3 Harvard and swept Cleveland State. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Houtz.
