MPSF WOMEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK
University of the Incarnate Word senior
Rodaina Gaafar (Cairo, Egypt) finished the Schiller Duals at Northwestern with a 24-6 record in epee (.800). Gaafar was especially impressive against some of the toughest teams in the nation, going 3-0 vs. No. 10 Ohio State, 2-1 against No. 5 Northwestern, No. 8 Cornell, and No. 11 Temple, and 1-2 vs. No. 2 Notre Dame. Gaafar is the only MPSF Fencer of the Week in UIW history. Her first such award came exactly one year ago, also after the Northwestern Duals.

SUNNY SHARMA OF UC SAN DIEGO
MPSF MEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK
UC San Diego junior
Sunny Sharma (San Jose, CA) went 17-3 (.850) across 10 matches at Northwestern (Feb. 1-2). His epee squad went 8-2, while the men finished 7-3 as a team. Sharma's best performances were a 3-0 result against Stanford and 2-1 records vs. Air Force, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 6 Ohio State. Sharma’s .850 win percentage and 17 wins are both the best of his career at a single competition. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Sharma.
