Matthew Burgoyne (Lansdale, PA) registered career-highs on floor exercise (14.100) and parallel bars (13.800) to lead the Sooners to a 323.100 team total and road wins over No. 6 Nebraska and No. 10 California in Berkeley, CA (Feb. 28). He helped OU to an NCAA season-high floor total of 55.400. Burgoyne also scored 13.600 on rings, and his three-score total of 41.500 was the highest of any three scores at the meet (among gymnasts who performed three or four routines). He placed second on floor and third on p-bars. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Burgoyne.

Francisco Velez Belendez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) scored 13.850 to place second on still rings and lead the Sooners to a 323.100 team total and road wins over No. 6 Nebraska and No. 10 California in Berkeley, CA (Feb. 28). This was the sixth time in the last seven meets Velez Belendez had scored 13.800 or better on rings. He ranks second nationally on the event with his 14.100 3-score average. This is the third career MPSF weekly award for Velez Belendez

BRANDON NGUYEN OF STANFORD
MPSF SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

Brandon Nguyen (Elk Grove) earned a share of the parallel bars title at No. 7 Penn State (Mar. 1) with a 14.050, marking his fifth title on the event this season. Nguyen has scored higher than 14.000 in each of his last six routines and ranks fifth nationally with a 3-score average of 14.150. He also scored 13.950 on vault and 13.000 on high bar at Penn State. This is the third career MPSF weekly award for Nguyen.
