2025 MPSF WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE YEAR

Jada Ashford (Brownsville, TX) won three conference titles at the 2025 MPSF Championships, taking first-place with MPSF season-bests in the 100 breast (1:03.12), 100 free (50.25), and 50 free (22.87) for a meet-high-tying 60 individual points. She also swam for a pair of second-place relays on the 200 and 400 medley, for a total of five all-conference awards, including three first team placements. Ashford was one of just two females who earned multiple MPSF Athlete of the Week honors this year (Nov. 26-three-event finalist in Art Adamson Invite, Oct. 15-triple-event winner in season opener). Ashford represents UIW’s first-ever MPSF Women’s Swimmer of the Year.

Vivian Vallely (Newport Beach, CA) had an outstanding season, proving herself as the top diver in the MPSF with consistent excellence on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. Vallely was the 2025 MPSF Champion in both the one-meter and three-meter events to earn a pair of first team all-conference honors. On October 8, 2024, Vallely was named MPSF Athlete of the Week for achieving an NCAA Zone-Qualifying score on the three-meter board with her season-high 283.50. Her season-high on the one-meter was 256.05 at the conference championship, on her way to the MPSF title. Vallely represents the first-ever student-athlete annual award winner for Pepperdine Swimming & Diving.

Christina Agiomamitou (Nicosia, Cyprus) scored 53 individual points at the MPSF Championships, fourth-most in the entire meet and more than any other first-year competitor. She helped the Tigers win conference titles in the 800 free and 400 free relays – both of which qualified for the National Invitational Championship. Agiomamitou recorded a podium finish in all three of her individual MPSF Championship events, taking the title in the 200 free with a personal-best 1:51.19, placing second in the 1650 free with a personal-best 17:16.51, and taking third in the 500 free with a third personal-best of 5:00.34 for a total of five first team All-MPSF awards. She was named MPSF Athlete of the Week on October 1 for winning four events in her collegiate debut. Agiomamitou represents Pacific’s first-ever MPSF Women’s Swimming & Diving annual award recipient.

Ellie Monobe guided the Waves to their first-ever MPSF Swimming & Diving Team Championship. Pepperdine picked up MPSF swim titles in the 200 medley relay, 100 fly with Sophia Ware, and 400 IM with Ansley Halbach, while the squad set five school records and recorded 43 top-eight swim performances and all-conference honors. Pepperdine wrapped up its 2024-25 season at the National Invitational Championship, where Alexandra Browne broke her own school record with a time of 56.50 in the 100 IM, finishing 18th. Further, Browne’s time of 23.06 in the 50 prelim resulted in her becoming the first swimmer in Pepperdine's 40-year history to make an NIC final. Monobe, along with dive coach Monique Demaisip, are the first two MPSF Swim & Dive Coach of the Year recipients from Pepperdine.

Monique Demaisip guided the Waves to their first-ever MPSF Swimming & Diving Team Championship. Demaisip coached MPSF Diver of the Year Vivian Vallely to both MPSF diving titles en route to her qualifying for NCAA Zones on the three-meter board. Pepperdine divers claimed four of the six first team All-MPSF honors, with Lexie Martin’s second-place three-meter score and Amanda Wong’s third-place one-meter, to go with Vallely’s two championships. The Waves also collected four All-MPSF second team awards with Delainey Pisaruk and Martin placing fourth and fifth on the MPSF one-meter board and Wong and Pisaruk taking fifth and sixth on three-meter. Demaisip, along with swim coach Ellie Monobe, are the first two MPSF Swim & Dive Coach of the Year recipients from Pepperdine.

Mitchell Hopper (Happy Valley, OR) scored 27 individual points toward the Tigers’ first-ever MPSF Championship, tied for the most in the conference meet. In addition to first-place MPSF season-best swims in the 200 IM, 100 free, and 200 free, Hopper swam for three winning relays---200 medley, 800 free, and 400 medley—giving him six first team All-MPSF honors. His 200 IM swim of 1:46.49 was a personal-best and a new Pacific record, while his 100 free was also a personal-best of 43.39, the second-fastest time in Pacific history. Backed by the three winning MPSF relays, he helped the Tigers automatically qualify for the National Invitational Championship, where he helped the team move up three places from last year to ninth. Hopper was named MPSF Athlete of the Week twice this season. Hopper represents Pacific’s first-ever MPSF Swimmer of the Year.

Roldan Salas (San Antonio, TX) was the 2025 MPSF Champion on both the one and three-meter diving events. He was one of only two first-year male athletes (swimmers and divers combined) to earn multiple first team All-MPSF honors, earning 18 points for UIW in the conference championship meet. Salas had season-best scores of 271.80 on the one-meter and 319.20 on the three-meter, coming within one point of qualifying for NCAA zones. Salas is the first MPSF Men’s Diver of the Year from Incarnate Word, and the second Cardinal to earn an annual award recipient (Belal Zahran, freshman of the year-2024).

Javier Lopez Guillen (Inca, Spain) scored 24 points toward the Tigers’ first-ever MPSF Championship, the most for any first-year male competitor. Lopez Guillen helped the Tigers win each relay he swam at MPSF’s--the 200 medley, 800 free, and 400 medley–which all qualified for the National Invitational Championship. Lopez Guillen recorded a podium finish in all three of his individual MPSF Championship events, taking the title in the 100 and 200 fly, and placing third in the 500 free to earn six first team all-conference awards. He helped the Tigers place ninth at NIC’s, scoring in the top-10 in all three of his individual events. At the mid-season event, Lopez Guillen swam his personal-best time in the 200 Fly of 1:43.62, a new Pacific record by nearly two seconds. He also holds the second-fastest time in Pacific history in the 100 fly with a 46.85. He was named MPSF Athlete of the week on October 1 for posting four victories in his collegiate debut. Lopez Guillen is the second all-time MPSF Freshman of the Year recipient from Pacific (Yahav Shahaff-2016).

Katelyne Herrington guided the Tigers to their first-ever MPSF Team Championship in 2025. Pacific won a conference-high 11 MPSF Men’s Swim titles, and placed in the top-three in all but one of the swim events. Individually, MPSF Championships by the Tigers came from Mitchell Hopper in the 200 IM, 200 free, and 100 free, Javier Lopez Guillen in the 100 fly and 200 fly, Aidan Scott in the 200 back, Leland Baltazar in the 100 back, and Mattia Giurgevich in the 100 breast. The Pacific men proceeded to compete at the National Invitational Championship, where they placed ninth as a team, a three-spot improvement from last year. The Tigers’ 200 medley, 800 free, and 400 medley relay teams all automatically qualified for NIC’s, backed by their victories at MPSF’s. Herrington represents Pacific’s first-ever MPSF Swim & Dive Coach of the Year recognition.

University of the Incarnate Word second-year diving coach
James Zagaria coached MPSF Diver of the Year Roldan Salas to a pair of conference titles on both the one and three-meter diving events. Salas was one of only two first-year male athletes (swimmers and divers combined) to earn multiple first team All-MPSF honors. Prior to UIW, Zagaria was the head age group diving coach at Longhorn Aquatics at the University of Texas for nearly 10 Years. Zagaria represents UIW’s first-ever MPSF Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year recognition.
