The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has announced the addition of the University of the Pacific in men’s and women’s indoor track & field, beginning with the upcoming 2025-26 season. Pacific’s athletic programs primarily compete in the West Coast Conference (WCC), though its women’s indoor track & field squad will have a conference affiliation for the first time since its 2013 inception and its men’s program will compete in its inaugural season.

Since hiring fifth-year MPSF Commissioner Foti Mellis in 2021, the conference has added 68 teams, 35 schools, and seven sports. "We’re excited to welcome the Pacific’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field programs to the MPSF for indoor competition,” said Mellis. “Pacific’s addition of a men’s program marks an important step in providing more student-athletes the opportunity to compete at a high level within the MPSF. We are equally pleased to offer a competitive home for the women’s team and proud to provide them with conference affiliation for the first time in program history.”

Located in Stockton, Calif, Pacific is also a current MPSF member in men’s and women’s swimming & diving, and a former member in men’s and women’s water polo and men’s volleyball.

“Joining the MPSF is an important step in elevating our track & field programs here at Pacific and providing a championship experience for our student-athletes,” said Pacific Director of Athletics Adam Tschuor. “This affiliation will not only offer our student-athletes the opportunity to compete on a bigger stage but also enhance the visibility of our programs as a whole.”

Pacific Men’s Indoor Track & Field in 2025-26 will be joined in the MPSF by Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Long Beach State, Portland, UC Riverside, and Washington State. Those seven schools will also vie for an MPSF title on the women’s side, in addition to Hawaii, Oregon State, Pepperdine, St. Mary’s, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and the University of San Francisco.

For the first time since 2000 and ninth time overall, the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Reno, Nevada, March 1-2, 2026.

Josh Jones has been the lone Director of Cross Country and Track & Field in Pacific’s 14-year track & field history. “We are thrilled to join the MPSF for indoor track,” said Jones. “Competing in this conference raises our standard, accelerates our growth and gives our student-athletes the larger spotlight opportunities they deserve.”

The MPSF enters the 2025-26 year with 121 total national championships, including four during 2024-25, with its 113 NCAA titles leading the nation amongst Division-I Non-Power Four Conferences.
