Jasmine Higgs (Sydney, Australia) racked up 24 saves (.585) in a pair of Top-10 wins over No. 7 Fresno State 11-10 and No. 8 UC Irvine 8-7 to open the season in Fresno (Jan. 17-18). Higgs had nine saves, a goal and two steals in the win over Fresno State. She then collected 15 saves and dished out an assist in the victory over UCI to help give Indiana its first win over the Anteaters since 2004. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Higgs.

California freshman
Despoina Drakotou (Athens, Greece) scored seven goals in her first collegiate weekend, as the Bears went 3-0 in Fresno (Jan. 17-18). She had a hat trick along with two steals in her debut to help lead a 23-18 win over No. 15 Michigan, then scored twice and tallied four steals and a field block in a 14-9 win over No. 4 Hawai'i. In the 16-9 win over No. 8 UC Irvine, Drakotou scored twice with an assist, steal, and field block.
