UC Davis senior Maya Shinnick (Glendora, CA) earned a second-place finish in the 400m at the Nevada Invitational (Jan. 17), posting an MPSF season-best and NCAA 27th-ranked time of 54.35.
She also placed second in the 200m with another MPSF season-best and 42nd-ranked 24.01, breaking her own school record in the event. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Shinnick.

MPSF MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

CSUN senior Tylor Connelly (Chino Hills, CA) finished first in the weight throw at the Nevada Invitational (Jan. 16). He set a PR with an MPSF season-best toss of 20.26m (66-5.75), also ranking 44th in the nation this year, and third in CSUN history. In addition, the throw was nearly three meters farther than his previous PR of 17.98m (59-0) set in 2025. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Connelly.
