2026 MPSF Player of the Year

UCLA senior setter Andrew Rowan (Trabuco Canyon, CA/J Serra HS) is the nation’s leader in assists per set (11.54), while setting the nation’s No. 1 offense to a .385 team hitting percentage entering the postseason. The Bruins hit at least .300 in 23 of their 27 matches and over .400 in 13 matches, with Rowan setting the offense in 93 of UCLA’s 96 sets in helping guide 10 top-10 wins and 19 ranked wins along the way. Rowan is one of three players in the country who served at least 50 aces in the regular season, and at the end of the regular season, became the 13th player in MPSF history to serve 170 in his career. During the season, he became the second Bruin in the rally-era (since 2001).to reach 4,000 career assists. A four-time first team all-conference selection, Rowan represents UCLA’s eighth MPSF Player of the Year recipient, and fourth in the last five years (Cooper Robinson, 2025; Merrick McHenry, 2024; Miles Partain, 2022; Brandon Taliaferro, 2000; Stein Metzger, 1996; Jeff Nygaard, 1995 & ‘94).

Pepperdine redshirt-freshman outside hitter Jose Gomez (Trinidad, Cuba/Cerro Pelado) enters the MPSF Championship Tournament ranked ninth in the conference in hitting percentage at .337, the only freshman listed in the top-10. He also served 25 aces in the regular season and ranks eighth in the conference in aces per set (0.40). Gomez produced eight matches in double-digit kills, including a season-high of 14 with a huge .632 hitting clip in an MPSF win over Stanford (Apr. 10), and enters the postseason having served at least one ace in his last six matches. Gomez was named MPSF/Molten Defensive Player of the Week on March 9, following Pepperdine’s first win at Hawaii since 2009. Gomez, one of only two freshmen named to this year’s All-MPSF teams, is Pepperdine’s sixth MPSF Freshman of the Year recipient and third-straight (Cole Hartke, 2025; Ethan Watson, 2024; Jonathan Winder, 2005; Sean Rooney, 2002; Scott Wong, 1998).
