The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has announced the addition of STUNT to its list of sponsored sports beginning with the 2027 season, marking the record-setting 17th current Intercollegiate Olympic sport for the conference and exceeding the previous all-time high of 16 during the most recent 2025-26 academic year. STUNT, created by USA Cheer in 2010 and continuing to serve as one of the fastest-growing female sports since its launch, will debut on the NCAA level and host a championship in the Spring of 2027. It is the eighth sport to be added to the MPSF in Commissioner Foti Mellis’ tenure since the fall of 2021. In its first season, MPSF STUNT will feature Division-I programs from California Baptist University, Cal Poly, UC Davis, and the University of the Pacific.

Since hiring Mellis in 2021, the conference has added 77 teams, 38 schools, and eight sports. “We're thrilled to welcome STUNT to the MPSF family — a dynamic, fast-growing sport that showcases elite athleticism, strategy, and teamwork," said Mellis. "Adding STUNT reinforces our commitment to expanding opportunities for student-athletes and advancing women's sports across the region. We look forward to fierce competition, new rivalries, and the incredible moments this sport will bring to our conference and campuses.”

California Baptist is a six-time defending national champion in STUNT, defeating Kentucky in the last four finals.  The Lancers have never lost a competition in the history of their program. Since debuting in 2021, CBU is a perfect 140-0, good for owning the longest registered win streak in the history of collegiate athletics (eclipsing the record in last year’s national semifinals). Following the title victory, junior Layla Langrell was recognized as the Division-I STUNT MVP and junior Savannah Eshleman was named the Player of the Game. Located in Riverside, California, the Lancers were formerly an MPSF participant in men’s volleyball and men’s and women’s swimming & diving.

Cal Poly turned in a remarkable inaugural varsity season in 2026, finishing 13-7. The Mustangs reached the national semifinals and held a top-three ranking the entire year. Their regular season was highlighted by a pair of top-10 wins over No. 6 Missouri State and No. 7 Central Arkansas. Located in San Luis Obispo, California, Cal Poly has previously been an MPSF participant in men’s soccer and men’s and women’s swimming & diving.

Pacific, located in Stockton, California, checks in to the MPSF after announcing STUNT as its 21st intercollegiate program on December 8, 2025. Previously, the Tigers announced the reinstatement of their men’s volleyball program, which will also be an MPSF member. Pacific is currently an MPSF member in men’s and women’s indoor track & field and men’s and women’s swimming & diving and is a former participant in men’s and women’s water polo.

Located in Davis, California, the Aggie STUNT team will compete as an intercollegiate sport for the first time after being elevated from club status. The Aggies are current MPSF members in field hockey and were formerly participants in the sports of women’s swimming & diving, gymnastics, indoor track & field, and lacrosse.

The 17 intercollegiate sports lined up in the MPSF for 2026-27, in addition to STUNT, are beach volleyball, men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s water polo, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, men’s and women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s wrestling, men’s rowing, fencing, field hockey, and artistic swimming.

The MPSF enters 2026-27 with 127 total national championships across 10 different sports dating back to 1992, including a conference record-setting six titles during the 2025-26 academic year. The MPSF’s 117 NCAA titles lead the nation amongst Division-I Non-Power Four Conferences.
