Steve Robertello comes to the MPSF with over 25 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics. He has served in multiple leadership positions at five different Division I universities, including California State University, Fresno (Fresno State), Washington State University, Arizona State University, Villanova University and West Virginia University.
During Robertello’s time at Fresno State, he served as Interim Director of Athletics on two different occasions, most recently for the 2017-18 academic year. He served on the President’s Cabinet and had oversight of the athletics department with a $40 M operating budget and 140 full-time employees, along with oversight of the Bulldog Foundation. He also served as Co-Interim Director of Athletics from August 12 to December 31, 2014. In addition to his time as Interim Director of Athletics, Robertello previously served as Deputy Director of Athletics with day-to-day oversight of athletic operations, sport administration and student-athlete services. Robertello also served as a member of the NCAA Baseball Selection Committee.
For a decade prior to coming to Fresno State, Robertello worked at Washington State University. Most recently, he served as the Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance in Pullman where he directed the day-to-day operations of the WSU Athletics Compliance Office. Robertello served as a member of the WSU Athletics Department Executive Staff, as well as the Athletics Department liaison to the WSU Admissions Office. Prior to WSU, Robertello spent three years as a Compliance Coordinator at Arizona State University, two years as an Athletics Compliance Office Assistant, and Assistant Director of Compliance at Villanova University and one year as an Athletic Compliance Office Graduate Assistant at West Virginia University. Robertello has experience working with non-profit organizations as he served as Director of Resource Development at the Marjaree Mason Center, a domestic violence organization in Fresno County.
Robertello graduated from West Virginia with a Master of Science in Sport Management and Bachelor of Science. He lives in Fresno, CA with his wife, Dr. Kimberly Robertello, and two daughters, Ava and Ashley.
