Tony Giarla has committed himself to leveling the playing field and fighting inequality in underrepresented communities. During this time he has held positions in professional beach volleyball, minor league baseball, intercollegiate athletics and community based recreational level athletics. With a personal mission to positively impact 1,000,000 youth and their families, his dedication and passion for youth has led to a career of creating access and opportunities to children of all backgrounds, regardless of race or their socioeconomic status.
As principal for Anthony Consulting Group, Tony continues to build community bridges and create high quality events for athletes of all ages, utilizing sport as a tool for positive human development.
Prior to designing and leading the nonprofit AVPFirst into a national beach volleyball brand as its Executive Director, Tony worked for over a decade as Associate Director for Kids In Sports. Managing all aspects of organizational administration, board of director relations, program design and implementation, program evaluation, community engagement, volunteer recruitment and fundraising for both organizations.
Tony has been influential in spreading the Olympic Spirit and positive aspects of sport across hundreds of communities on a national and international level by raising over 15 million dollars in support, directly impacting over 350,000 youth and creating a legion of committed adult volunteers to support this initiative.
Tony holds a BA in Entrepreneurial Studies, Endicott College (1997) and a MEd in Education/Athletic Administration, Plymouth State University (2009). He is also a 2013 graduate of the Center for Non Profit Management’s, Non Profit Leadership Development Program.
Additionally, Tony has served in a variety of board capacities for local nonprofit organizations and for the last 19 years has worked as a certified indoor and beach volleyball official for numerous men’s and women’s collegiate conferences, USA Volleyball and the CIF Southern Section.
Tony is married to Alisa (Smith) Giarla. Together they have two daughters, Anya, 23, and Isabella, 17.
