Rick Sloan has served as the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Head of Officials since 2016.

Sloan was the men's and women's track & field and cross country head coach at Washington State University from 1995-2014, and was hired as the men's coach in 1994. He led the Cougars to a total of four MPSF indoor titles, two each for the men (1998, 2001) and women (1999, 2000). He was named MPSF Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year in 2001 and women's coach of the year in 1998. Sloan was also an an assistant track & field coach at WSU from 1973-94, during which time he also worked  as an assistant professor in physical education from 1979-87 and an instructor from 1973-78. 

Prior to his time in Pullman, Sloan was as assistant track & field and cross country coach as well as a physical education instructor at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif (1972-73), following the beginning of his coaching career in Pasadena at Cal Tech and Pasadena City College as an assistant (1971-72).

Sloan was a member of the United States Olympic team in 1968, where he took seventh-place in the decathlon. An outstanding athlete while at UCLA, he was an NCAA All-American in the pole vault (1967) and a USA All-American in the decathlon (1968-69).
